Veterinary Physiotherapy - Equine Librium

Kayla graduated from Equine-Librium College in 2017 and joined the Animal Health and Hydro Newlands team in 2025. Kayla has tons of experience treating canine and feline patients, and she also treats horses. Before joining Animal Health and Hydro Newlands, Kayla worked at some prominent Veterinary Physiotherapy clinics in Johannesburg including being a former Animal Health and Hydro Gauteng team member. Outside of work, Kayla spends a lot of time with her own dogs and she loves doing agility training and competing with them. In practice however, she has developed a particular interest in treating post-op patients, especially those presenting with neurological conditions. It is the variability of these patients combined with their response to treatment, which makes them both challenging and rewarding for Kayla to work with. Her knowledge and expertise in this area is very valuable. To learn more about Kayla CLICK HERE .

KIRSTY GREEN

Image
Hydrotherapist, Canine Nutritionist & Assistant Rehab Practitioner

Kirsty joined Animal Health and Hydro Newlands (formerly Animal Physical Rehab Newlands) in early 2019 and has become an integral part of the team. After changing careers from teaching to working as a Hydrotherapist, Kirsty since does the majority of the underwater treadmill sessions at Animal Health and Hydro. Kirsty has also completed a certification in Canine Nutrition. Kirsty’s horse-riding keeps her busy outside of work, but it also gives her a good eye for lameness. At work she sees our dog and cat patients. She is a fully trained Greyfriars Hydrotherapist and has completed her Canine Body Worker Certification. Kirsty is an almost-certifiable Golden Retriever addict and whenever Golden Retriever patients arrive, they will most likely see her for their underwater treadmill treatment sessions.

NINA JOUBERT

Image
Hydrotherapist

After completing her studies in communication, Nina worked as a copy writer before taking a gap year to work at a wildlife rehab centre. 1-year quickly turned into three as she worked with some of Africa’s most beloved animals including rhinos, pangolins and chimpanzees. She realized that caring for and being part of the rehabilitation process is what she wanted to do. So, she returned to complete her Greyfriars Hydrotherapy certification. When she is not in the Animal Health and Hydro underwater treadmill on a Friday morning, she works as a dog trainer to help people understand their dogs better. Nina believes that to give companion animals the lives they deserve, we must understand and meet their physical & mental needs. Nina is passionate about force-free training methods and has a particular passion for cooperative care. She has a special place in her heart for Collies, but admits she loves all dogs and sees dog hairs as her glitter.

HAYLEY KATZ

Admin Manager & Assistant Therapist

After working for years in eco-toursim & conservation, Hayley became interested in helping animals in a medical context. She manages the administration and bookings at Animal Health and Hydro Newlands (formerly Animal Physical Rehab Newlands). Hayley  is also responsible for coordinating any in-house charity fundraisers when they take place. She also assists the therapists with many therapeutic modalities. Hayley also steps into the role of underwater treadmill ‘driver’ and therapy assistant when needed. Known as ‘crazy-cat-lady,’ Hayley has undertaken some further studies in feline behaviour & animal naturopathy & would love to integrate this training into the work she does at Animal Health and Hydro. Hayley is the ‘glue’ that keeps the team & the clients together.

ISAAC LMEDI

Underwater Treadmill Assistant

Isaac has been working at Animal Health and Hydro Newlands (previously known as Animal Physical Rehab Newlands) since February 2014. Prior to that he worked as a therapy assistant for Megan Kelly. In fact, Isaac has the most underwater treadmill experience than anyone else on the team and he knows the hydrotherapy room like the back of his hand. He assists the therapists with most underwater treadmill sessions and is responsible for maintaining the treadmill machine and all of the rehab equipment. He is a phenomenal dog-handler, but he actually has a special place in his heart for our feline patients. Every patient LOVES Isaac and they always look to him in the underwater treadmill for treats which encourage them to walk well and remain engaged and enthusiastic about their rehab sessions.
